Job Description: General Manager—HR, Finance, and Internal Operations

This manager has overall responsibility for all Finance, Human Resources, Accounting, Administrative, and Internal Operations of a growing sales and management consulting and training firm (full-time-career staff of 27). Extensive interface with professional staff.

The strongest candidates will have substantive, progressively responsible experience in all or virtually all of the functions described below, with a record of superior performance in at least one organization of similar size and nature. The individual selected will be an accountant, but not merely an accountant. Superior character and performance references are required.

Human Resources...

  • Maintain all personnel records.
  • Act as a confidential source of employment and benefits information for each employee.
  • Manage payroll system, and assist firm’s executives and managers in attending to salary reviews and bonus payments.
  • Review, purchase, and administer all company benefits programs—medical, dental, life, disability, 401(k), Health Savings Accounts, and workers’ comp.

Financial Analysis...

  • Prepare annual operating budgets and monthly/quarterly progress reports.
  • Prepare revenue and expense projections, and manage cash flow; update projections as fiscal year progresses.
  • Analyze financial data for significant findings and present findings to executive leadership.
  • Oversee functionality of all accounting software systems in use, and determine future software needs.

Banking...

  • Manage all corporate borrowing activities and banking relationships.
  • Prepare and submit to bank quarterly financials and A/R summary.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.

Property...

  • Ensure regular maintenance is performed.
  • Recommend major repairs and improvements, as appropriate.

Tax-related...

  • Coordinate with third-party preparer the preparation of corporate tax returns for several related corporations.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules.
  • Coordinate with third-party preparers the filing of payroll tax and 401(k) tax returns.

Legal.. .

  • Prepare annual summary of specified corporate activities to assist counsel in preparing corporate minutes.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock ownership (all shares in CSS are held by employees).
  • Maintain records and filings for copyrights, trademarks, and domain names.
  • Maintain accessible files of legal documents and agreements.

Management...

  • Function as an integral part of the company’s management team so as to enable the company to fulfill its mission and facilitate growth.
  • Enhance the company’s entrepreneurial paradigm and manner.
  • Hire, train, supervise, coach, and mentor administrative and operational staff, to include Accounting Manager, Client Service Coordinator, Information Technology Manager, Technical Support Manager, Chief of Logistics (production and shipping), Graphic Designer, and other admin staff hired as we grow.
  • Attend all professional staff meetings.
